Hirshfield’s has the pleasure of working with the dynamic design team that puts together the Bachman’s Ideas House each and every season. Hirshfield’s paints and wallpapers are featured as a backdrop for the creatively styled Bachman’s vignettes, table settings, and floral arrangements. I thought it would be fun to share the array of wallpapers used in the Ideas House over the years.

If you love traveling to exotic places (or just dreaming about it), Thibaut Design has a book for you. Thibaut’s new Trade Routes collection of coordinating wallpaper, print and embroidered fabrics was inspired by handcrafted and primitive techniques from faraway places.

For example, Goa (below), a stunning pattern named after the beautiful beach town in India that has colorful buildings and palm trees, and at one time had wild cows roaming freely along its beaches.

Gingham Takes Fashion Home

The theme in this Spring’s fashion runways – from Diane von Furstenberg to Michael Kors to Oscar de la Renta – was the return of the check. From simple, traditional gingham designs to bold, broad checkerboard patterns, designs were fresh and breezy.

Wallpaper Prints We’ve Used and Love in Minnesota Homes

“I thought I was over my wallpaper phase, but looking at what you have online has me right back into it.  Oh, some of the papers are so gorgeous!” – Hirshfield’s customer K.M.

A few months ago K.M. saw a white birch bark wallpaper in an Arizona model home and could not get the paper off her mind. She emailed Hirshfield’s and I happened to have a sample roll of the paper in my office. Karma. The birch bark paper is really a paper-thin sheet of cork, adhered to a paper backing, and dyed white. K.M. plans on hanging the paper in a powder room.

Hirshfield’s retail stores have received so many new wallpaper books in the past month, that it’s a great time to be looking for wallpaper. Florals, geometrics with a twist, embossed classic motifs to digitally altered designs. Papers printed in the United States and United Kingdom bring a good mix of colorways and printing techniques. Wallcovering Wednesday: Fabric-Backed Vinyl Wallpaper

Fabric backed vinyl wallpaper is a great solution to many common wallcovering problems. This wallpaper has durable fabric backing and a vinyl surface, which makes it almost invincible. They’re a superhero against dings, scratching, stains and standard wear and tear without being damaged. The benefits of fabric-backed vinyl are virtually endless. They come in many different textures that are just not achievable with paint, they can be easily cleaned with water, soap and even most household cleaning agents without ruining the wallpaper. If your home has wall damage, this wallcovering is great at covering up imperfections.

Thibaut’s best-selling fabric-backed vinyl is Bankun Raffia. It adds natural flare to a room in a wide variety of agreeable shades.

Thibaut is one of our favorite wallpaper lines and we’re always excited when we receive a new Thibaut book. Their new collection, Enchantment, explodes with color and offers classic patterns designed with that unique Thibaut look.
