It’s been just about a year since we first blogged about Glacier Bay H0054, Hirshfield’s Historic Collection. House Beautiful and DezignUp picked bright blue as a trend to look for in 2015. India’s DezignUp said, “On these lines, the Mediterranean Blue of Santorini and Mykonos is already touted as a major trend for the New Year; it’s simply magnificent.”  

Atlantic Beach – 2016 Colour of the Year

This show-stopping blue has been spotted out and about in the past month and Plascon, Africa’s largest paint company, announced their 2016 Colour of the Year:  Atlantic Beach B5-B1-1

Atlantic Beach is an intense blue inspired by the coastal energy of Brazil – as seen in the Brazil national flag. And with the upcoming 2016 Olympic games set to take place in the South American country, Plascon has brought this vibrant blue to the foreground. 

It is a deep stimulating, yet refreshing colour that promotes focus and commands respect. A great hue for a workspace or in a relaxed living area and even in an outdoor space.

Pair with crisp white for a striking effect or blend with earthy tones such as Pantone’s Marsala for a rich layered look.

You may be hesitant about using this bold blue in your home, but think along the lines of accessorizing with this stand-out color. Freshen up your palette with pillows, rugs, draperies, or paint the back of a bookcase. It’s easy to “test drive” accessories and if they don’t work to your satisfaction, back to the drawing board. Also, keep in mind having a neutral background makes it easy to switch out your new favorite color.
