{design helper: the hunter douglas product recommender}

Shopping for window treatments can be a lot of fun. The right styles, fabrics and colors can really bring a room to life. And the most energy-efficient models can even save you a lot of money — if you know what to look for. But what if you don’t? That’s where a new online offering from Hunter Douglas steps in.

The slick, new Product Recommender on the Hunter Douglas home page not only helps you pick your window treatments— it provides an online window treatment education to help you make the best choices.

When you first start clicking, the Product Recommender starts educating – about light diffusion, variable light control and energy efficiency, among other things, before it even asks about your individual needs.

Then, you answer a series of questions to help narrow down your window treatment choices.

  • The shape of the windows you are decorating.
  • Unique needs, like child safety or motorization.
  • Light control and privacy (like the light diffusion and variable light control mentioned earlier).
  • Materials — from fabric to wood to metal.
  • Style — from contemporary to traditional.

When you are done, you receive the recommendations: a selection of Hunter Douglas products that meet your needs and can be compared to one another. There are links, descriptions and cost factors.

The Hunter Douglas Product Recommender is not a substitute for visiting the window treatment experts at our Hirshfield’s locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota, but it’s a great way to do your research and get ready for your trip to the store. Looking for a more personalized service? Hirshfield’s Shop at Home is a free in-home service with our Window Treatment Designers. You can go here and find out how it works.

Since Frank and Elizabeth Hirshfield opened their first store in 1894, it has been our mission to do the best job possible meeting customer needs and solving customer problems. Hirshfield’s. People and products you can trust.
