Color Marketing Group 2015 Color Forecast

The Color Marketing forecast for 2015 was decided back in November of 2013, combining the results of many ChromaZones (Color Forecasting Workshops) throughout the world.  Two months into the new year, have you noticed the 2015 colors popping up in fashion, makeup, and interiors here in the Midwest? I’ve been seeing these four colors out and about: Frozen Stream, Pleasant Stream, Dark River, and Remaining Embers. How about you? Which colors keep popping up on your radar?

Jack-O-Lantern, Remaining Embers, Pleasant Stream

Once again blue-green held a spot in the forecast in a brighter and deeper value that is the perfect companion for rusty reds and mid-tone oranges.

Color Trends 2015

Calmness, Heather Hill, Velvet Down

Patina is the softening and burnishing of metals that add color as well as sheen to produce a mix of hues that fascinate and mesmerize our imaginations. Metals dominate the trends in many ways, from their original hues to those they become with time and erosion.

Color Trends 2015

Southern Belle, Cloud Number Nine, Bridesmaid

Fashion and cosmetics are leaders in color forecasting due to the fact that those trends change quickly for these markets.

Many colors in the forecast are linked to fashion with soft pink, rich berry colors, and a brown influenced plum.

Color Trends 2015

Chicago Skyline, Mother Nature, Frozen Stream

Blues and greens mingle to shape a feeling of calm and quiet retreat. Bamboo has been a popular material for many home products as it is a sustainable, ecofriendly material. But most people do not see this plant in its natural state, a soft combination of blues and greens cover its stalks.

Color Trends 2015

Millionaire, Sun’s Rage, Golden Cadillac

Metals have grown in importance, especially the warm tones  of copper and gold. It is not surprising that copper is popular since it is the complement to the blue greens that have been so popular for years. Metals will appear in unusual ways, as a finish on wood or over paint finishes. It is destined to be wall color that adds richness to many areas of the home.

Color Trends 2015

Buttered Popcorn, Gold Day, Dark River

The word “Pop” is used for accent colors, but this yellow outshines that term. Yellow has a green side to it but is not green or lemon. Bright green, the color of new foliage; also a happy companion to yellow brings a smile to our faces. An off black color completes this graphic pattern reminiscent of graffiti that is seen on walls and also in fabric designs and motifs.

Color Trends 2015

Color Marketing Group just announced their 2016 Color Trends (we’ll share later) and are holding ChromaZones for 2017 color trend selections. CMG members and global color design experts forecast colors a couple years in advance for a variety of industries, not just the decor industries.

The colors in this report are not exact matches to The Color Marketing forecast, but are influenced by them and notated in the Hirshfield’s Color Is fan deck numbers.

Since Frank and Elizabeth Hirshfield opened their first store in 1894, it has been our mission to do the best job possible meeting customer needs and solving customer problems. Hirshfield’s. People and products you can trust.
