{friday finds: hirshfield’s favorite sites for design inspiration}

Five Great Places to Find Design Ideas

Design ideas can come from so many places, such as nature, fashion, and music. But, where does one even begin to look for design inspiration online?

There are so many great design sites, and so little time, so we’ve pared the best places to go online to tap your own creative muse. Our team of  interior design experts and staff offer favorite online resources for design inspiration.

You’ll want to bookmark this blog so you can check out these sites packed with beautiful images and ideas.

House of Turquoise

Yes, all things turquoise. Minnesota blogger Erin may be obsessed with the color turquoise and we’re better for it. Stop by for daily images of fabulous rooms and beautiful houses featuring every shade of her favorite color.

HOUZZ

Hands down this online community about architecture, interior design and decorating, landscape design and home improvement is everyone’s favorite. HOUZZ (pronounced like house) features interior and exterior home photos and articles written by architects, interior designers and home design experts.

It’s the buzz site for our designers for a variety of reasons.

Beth (from Hirshfield’s Woodbury store) says HOUZZ is easy to navigate and the photos are so good, it’s easy to show them to customers who have a hard time visualizing what a new paint color will look like at home. Jon (from Hirshfield’s in Eden Prairie and Edina) points out that many of the interiors on HOUZZ are attainable and realistic for everyday people, so he follows designers who are not “over the top.”

Pinterest

This online pinboard offers a myriad of visual bookmarks. If you can dream it, there is likely a Pinterest board for it. If you are new to this online visual collection of ideas, start by visiting Hirshfield’s on Pinterest. We love it for both gathering and sharing of images.

Decor8

European influence and flair can be found in this inspirational blog focusing on creativity and home decorating by German-based stylist, Holly Becker. Julia (from Hirshfield’s Design Resource) says she looks to Decor8 for design inspiration because Decor8 just doesn’t talk about decorating. Your “lifestyle” should be inspirational.

Color Club Blog

Hirshfield’s staff use our own Hirshfield’s Color Club blog to inspire and be inspired and to stay on top of what’s happening in our little world. We invite you to stop by often!

Since Frank and Elizabeth Hirshfield opened their first store in 1894, it has been our mission to do the best job possible meeting customer needs and solving customer problems. Hirshfield’s. People and products you can trust.
