Color of the Month: Souffle 0139

Today’s pastels are softer and more complex than their sugary predecessors.  Souffle 0139, a semi-sweet variation of pink, is our November Color of the Month.  With its subtle brown undertones, Souffle falls within the category we affectionately refer to as the Dirty Pastels.  Softly muted colors: think blush, dusty pink, dusty rose.  Neither feminine nor masculine.  But infinitely useable.  Hirshfield’s Souffle makes a great background color for walls affording accents of moody grey, blue, and green, to appropriately pop.

Whether it’s with accessories or a pairing of paint and furniture, the color combination of gray with this subtle pink brings a feeling of sophistication to a space. Copper and gold metals are fresh looking alongside muted pinks and create a vibe with an edge…both metals were hot, hot, hot, at Fall 2014 High Point Market.

Natasha Saroca, Houzz contributor, shares this tip when decorating with pastels:

The secret to making soft, chalky colours work in your interior is to balance the dreamy look of pastels with cool whites, moody black, grey and neutral tones. Introducing clean, contemporary lines and modern design elements, as well as raw, sleek or edgy materials, will also cut through the cuteness and ensure your scheme looks fresh, grown-up and chic, rather than childish or overly feminine.
