Today we mourn the loss of a good friend. We join the many here today in Minneapolis who awoke this Friday either already in anguish or soon to be from the senseless tragedy at Accent Signage Systems last evening. We learned just this morning that one of the bright faces we saw every morning and every evening will shine no more. Keith. Hirshfield’s UPS Man. Always friendly. Always upbeat. Always professional. They don’t come much better. And we were lucky. A smile in the morning deliveries. That same smile in the evening for last minute pickups. Like the bookends for a good day, Keith was there. Yes, we were lucky. Keith made us all feel good — feel good about ourselves and the simple connections that make a day, make a life seem worthwhile. We will miss Keith — we will miss the bookends, that unwavering example of being “such a good guy” to all he encountered here at Hirshfield’s — and our hearts grieve all the more for his family and loved ones. No question your spirit, Mr. Keith Basinski, will get expedited delivery to its final rest.
