As National Employee Spirit Month continues, we travel to Baxter to visit with Michael! Mike has been a member of the Hirshfield’s team for 10 years, and was recently featured in the Brainerd Dispatch for his involvement in foster parenting. Let’s get to know a little more about Mike!

Hirshfield’s Baxter

What is your favorite part about working at Hirshfield’s? The people! The co-workers, the contractors… I need people! Some say I’m a Chatty Cathy!

What are your hobbies outside of work? Football, basketball, kickball, soccer. Anything to get outside and be with my family.

What is your favorite home improvement memory? When I was about 10 years old, we moved from a two bedroom, one bath home into a six bedroom, two bath home. We actually had to move it, put it on to the basement and completely gut it. We redid the roof and the electrical. It was a long process but we just did one thing at a time and even though I was young I still learned a lot about construction. Some other time I’ll tell you the story about how I got a whiffle ball stuck in the sewer pipe. đŸ™‚

Best advice for someone thinking of starting a home improvement project? Try not to do too much at once. That is the quickest path to discouragement.

Something many people might not know about you? I love to cook!

How would you describe the “Hirshfield’s Spirit?” It’s all about fun! I worked for another company and dreaded coming to work everyday for 1 1/2 years. I never want that feeling again. Now, I enjoy coming to work – it’s a “go get ’em” attitude with a side of humor!

Mike admits he did not catch any of these halibut!
