Here is Minnesota, we are lucky enough to get to experience the uniqueness and beauty of each of the four seasons. Winter is glittery and glamorous, spring is all about fresh, bold colors, summer means carefree living and design and fall … sigh … fall is all about coziness and comfort!
So what’s new in fall design for 2012? Let’s see what the experts are saying…
The Minneapolis design experts over at Hirshfield’s Design Studio – Kathy and Greg – are predicting bold, graphic wallpaper will be a huge design trend this fall. Wallpaper just gives a home a “finished” look, that something extra that sets your home apart from any other.
The “eclectic chic” look is also getting a shout-out this season. Kathy and Greg at the Design Studio happily declare that the age of matchy-matchy furniture pieces is finally over! Going eclectic chic is a fun way to personalize your decor and is easy on the wallet since it encourages refinishing existing pieces. I think the team is on to something here – has anyone else noticed a growing interest in “junking” and refinishing from just about everyone they’re following on Pinterest? And we can’t mention this growing trend without mentioning the wildly successful Junk Bonanza held right here in the Twin Cities!
Let’s move on to fall colors. On my recent visit to the Hirshfield’s Design Studio in Minneapolis, the design team told me that gray is still the neutral of choice moving into fall. Accent it with rich jewel tones and you’ll be right on trend.
Stay tuned for more design trend news from Hirshfield’s! Greg and Meropi of Hirshfield’s will be going to High Point for Fall Market and we know they’ll come back with lots of trends to share!
