Home decorators are lightening up on dark wall colors, I’m happy to see. My first sighting was chalkboard paint used on the walls in a bathroom, bedroom, and a baby’s room in the November ’08 issue of domino. I was intrigued: first by the use of chalkboard paint throughout the room; and then by the choice of a dark color in a baby’s room.
Also, shown in that issue was a bedroom that looked black to me, but they called out Benjamin Moore, Gentleman Gray for the room…
Then came a navy sitting room in a House Beautiful…
Hirshfield’s colorists have been telling me that on color calls they are using darker grays and navies recently…
